Before deciding on a web host, read customer(past and present) feedback. You read these kinds of reviews from websites that don’t make their own recommendations but rather from real web hosting customers.

I hate talking about project costs too, clients seem to want the world but never understand what it takes to reproduce functionality on the back end. I wish the average business owner was a little more realistic in what development costs.

Personally I think all the prices are ridiculous, especially if you own and operate a small business. My advice to small business owners is to just read read read and do it yourself. As far as website design goes, I think the best sources out there are w3schools.com and csszengarden.com You can learn a lot just from doing.

With Ecommerce that is customized and bells and whistles graphics, I can see $15,000.

My experience with my clients is they would freak out at that price. I guess I go after the small fish.

But when it comes to SEO, my starting price is $5,000.00 and I don’t come off that price. SEO is too labor intensive.

I like this post because it tells you exactly what you need – you get what you pay for. This is especially true in the web design and web hosting industry. I know you can get a web design cheaper than 2000, but 2000 is a good rate to pay for a quality custom web design. Anything cheaper and you wont get exactly what you want

This would definitely be a good read for prospective clients. I really can’t stress enough how important it is for service providers and clients to be on the same page when it comes to pricing. If you aren’t approaching the pricing problem from the same perspectives, you will never reach a consensus.
